It’s 2024, the Year of the Dragon with the Chinese New Year. At Horage, we share similarities with the symbolic nature of the holiday - dragons. Strength and independence help define dragons and we were inspired to launch our first ever Chinese New Year One Edition based on the all new Autark K2 Small Seconds. 

Autark is German for “independence” and “self-sufficiency” and with 2024 marking the year of the Wood Dragon, a K2 micro-rotor equipped watch seemed a natural fit. There’s strength and endurance with 72 hours of power reserve with one of the most efficient winding rotors in the industry, like the whipping tail of dragons.

This Autark K2 Small Seconds One Edition comes with design elements specific to the Chinese New Year, such as the fire red dial with champagne gold appliques and hands (the eyes of the dragon), and a special ancient dragon engraving on the Gold plated Tungsten micro-rotor. 

Swiss Super LumiNova® ensures excellent legibility at night, while the dragon red dial really pops during the day. A legible sub-dial at 6 o’clock housing the small seconds enhances the look with everything protected by a sapphire crystal with multiple anti-reflective coatings.

In common with all previous Horage Autark timepieces, the case of the all new Autark K2 Small Seconds is Grade 5 titanium. This is much stronger and lighter than 904L stainless steel used on many of our cases, additionally being more scratch resistant. A polished bezel complements the otherwise vertical brushing for a sporty and sophisticated aesthetic, which is only enhanced by the custom integrated three-link bracelet with our ultra-low profile micro-adjusting clasp (HMAC) which features 10mm of adjustment in 1mm steps. 

A refined sports watch through and through. Full crown guards and water resistance of 100 meters add protection and ruggedness for outdoor adventures, while the sapphire exhibition case back displays our in-house K2 micro-rotor caliber. The case back also features a special engraving of the Year of the Dragon for the Chinese New Year.

The Horage team began engineering the micro-adjustment clasp (HMAC) in early 2021 with a finished prototype a year later. It’s among the thinnest of its kind at only 5.6mm with a full 10mm of adjustment (in 1mm increments) via an internal button. Introduced on the Supersede and is now debuting in titanium with our latest Autark K2. 

We rigorously lab-tested the micro-adjusting clasp in Switzerland with thousands of actuations and it performed flawlessly. It provides a quick and tool-free way to perfectly dial in the size for any wrist, climate or outfit. 

The COSC-certified K2 micro-rotor has become our mainstay calibre and is the most attainable in-house Swiss micro-rotor in the industry. For the Chinese New Year, we’ve added a custom dragon engraving to the Gold plated Tungsten rotor and a vertical brushing that matches the case. 

The rest of the movement in a dark anthracite colour with our signature open grid pattern with anglage and Côtes de Genève. Adding to the resiliency and reliability are an anti-magnetic silicon escapement and hairspring, which is a rare combination for an independent watchmaker and increases overall efficiency and isochronism. Five years of development have led to this incredibly precise, 3.6mm modular calibre with efficiency on par with conventional automatic rotors. 

The Chinese Lunar New Year Autark One Edition will be limited to the orders received and will not remain within our regular portfolio following delivery. Deliveries are expected in late summer 2024.
